MacBook Pro PROLED and iPad mini OLED 2026: what changes in size, and which sleeve fits
Apple reworked three devices in late October: the MacBook Pro in 14 and 16 inch, and the iPad mini. New displays, less weight, slightly more compact housings. Every dimension in this article comes from Apple's own technical specifications. Our sleeves fit, and the fit has been checked.
Here in our Hamburg workshop the processor is not what interests us first. The question is: how big is the device actually, and which sleeve fits it?
The good news: we did not have to reinvent anything. A few minimal adjustments were enough to match our sleeves to the new device generations.
All dimensions at a glance
It sounds like a lot of technology. For a sleeve that sits well, three numbers matter: width, depth and thickness. And what counts is less the absolute figure than the change.
| Model | Width | Depth | Thickness | Change |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MacBook Pro 14″, M6 standard | 31.26 cm | 22.12 cm | 1.55 cm | unchanged |
| MacBook Pro 14″, PROLED 2026 | 31.08 cm | 21.63 cm | 1.50 cm | 4.9 mm less depth |
| MacBook Pro 16″, previous | 35.57 cm | 24.81 cm | 1.68 cm | – |
| MacBook Pro 16″, PROLED 2026 | 35.55 cm | 24.42 cm | 1.60 cm | 3.9 mm less depth |
| iPad mini A17 Pro (2024) | 13.48 cm | 19.54 cm | 0.63 cm | – |
| iPad mini OLED (2026) | 13.26 cm | 19.53 cm | 0.54 cm | 2.2 mm less width |
Dimensions in centimetres, from Apple's technical specifications, retrieved on 30 October 2026.
The MacBook Pro 14″ with the M6 chip keeps the previous housing. Only the PROLED models with M5 Pro or M5 Max are more compact. So check the exact model name when choosing, not the screen size.
New displays, new housings
The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display brings touch and OLED to the Mac for the first time. Apple offers it at 14.2 and 16.3 inch, with M5 Pro and M5 Max.
The iPad mini gets an OLED display as well. The diagonal grows from 8.3 to 8.5 inch, even though the housing has become slightly narrower.
If you take your MacBook out of a bag every day, you will probably notice the change in weight rather than in the outer dimensions. For us at the cutting table even small differences matter: a narrower device can sit noticeably looser inside unchanged interior dimensions.
What we adjusted on our sleeves
We have been making our sleeves in Hamburg since 2011. A new Apple housing therefore does not automatically mean a completely new product.
We look at the dimensions, compare them with our existing patterns and adjust only where it makes sense. For the new MacBook Pro models, minimal adjustments were enough. Our three established designs in the MacBook sleeves in leather and wool felt stay as they are.
SUFFOLK – merino wool felt, nothing else
A plain slip sleeve in merino wool felt. No extra pocket, no unnecessary details. For everyone who carries a MacBook in a backpack and wants to take it out quickly.
HAMPSHIRE – wool felt meets natural leather
Merino wool felt, vegetable-tanned leather, a magnetic closure and a front pocket: the MacBook sleeve HAMPSHIRE takes the charger, documents and everything that should stay within reach.
ANGUS – leather for many years
Leather outside, wool felt inside, with a zip and a separate front compartment. The ANGUS leather sleeve for MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch is our answer for everyone looking for a classic sleeve in real leather. It sits alongside the other leather sleeves for iPad and MacBook.
LLEYN: our sleeve for the iPad mini
For the iPad mini we make the iPad mini sleeve LLEYN in wool felt and leather. It has a front pocket, a magnetic closure and a holder for the Apple Pencil. It also leaves room when the iPad mini sits in a matching Smart Folio.
For the new iPad mini OLED we made only minimal adjustments. The idea stays the same: a dedicated sleeve for the small iPad, rather than one universal cut for as many tablets as possible. All versions are in the overview of iPad mini sleeves in leather and wool felt.
Why we do not rebuild everything for every Apple release
Apple keeps developing its devices. We keep developing our sleeves. That does not mean a completely new design has to appear with every model generation.
A good pattern is the foundation. On top of that come experience with the materials and the knowledge of where a few millimetres decide the outcome.
We still use mulesing-free merino wool felt and vegetable-tanned natural leather from Tuscany. Cutting, sewing and checking happen in our workshop in Hamburg.
Because a sleeve should not just match a device name. It should work in everyday use, and last.
Frequently asked questions
Are there sleeves that fit the MacBook Pro with PROLED display?
Yes. Our MacBook Pro PROLED sleeve comes in three designs: SUFFOLK in merino wool felt, HAMPSHIRE in wool felt and leather with a front pocket, and ANGUS in full leather with a zip. The new 2026 housings needed only minimal changes to the pattern, and the fit has been checked.
What is the best sleeve for the MacBook Pro 14 inch?
It depends on how you carry it. If it should come out of a backpack quickly, the SUFFOLK slip sleeve in merino wool felt is right. If you need room for a charger and documents, take HAMPSHIRE with its front pocket. If you want a leather sleeve that improves over the years, ANGUS is the answer.
Will my current MacBook Pro sleeve fit the new PROLED model?
That depends on the model and the sleeve. The 14-inch PROLED housing is 4.9 mm less deep than before, and the 16-inch is 3.9 mm less deep. Pick the device generation stated explicitly on the product page. If you are unsure, write to us and we will help you find the right one.
Is the MacBook Pro with M6 the same size as the new PROLED model?
No. The 14-inch standard model with M6 keeps the previous housing at 31.26 x 22.12 x 1.55 cm. The PROLED version with M5 Pro or M5 Max measures 31.08 x 21.63 x 1.50 cm and is slightly more compact.
Which iPad mini sleeve fits the new OLED model?
Our LLEYN in merino wool felt and vegetable-tanned natural leather. The 2026 iPad mini OLED measures 195.3 x 132.6 x 5.4 mm and is 2.2 mm narrower than its predecessor. The sleeve is matched to it.
Is there an iPad mini sleeve with a pencil holder?
Yes. The LLEYN has its own holder for the Apple Pencil, plus a front pocket and a magnetic closure. It also leaves room when the iPad mini sits in a matching Smart Folio.
Where are the sleeves made?
In our own workshop in Hamburg. We have been making them since 2011 from mulesing-free merino wool felt and vegetable-tanned natural leather from Tuscany.
Which sleeve fits you?
Our sizes are released for the MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch with PROLED XDR display and for the new iPad mini OLED.
