Frequently Asked Questions

No. The Pro 16 measures about 35,6 × 24,8 cm when closed, while the Air 15 measures only 34,0 × 23,8 cm, so there is about one and a half centimetres of difference in both directions. Our 15 inch sleeves are 36,0 to 36,1 cm wide inside, but only 24,3 to 25,4 cm high. That would be too tight. Please take the 16 inch version.

Flat accessories: a charging cable, a USB-C adapter, cards, a notebook. HAMPSHIRE and ANGUS have such a pocket, and on the ANGUS it has its own zip. The SUFFOLK has no front pocket on purpose, which is what keeps it especially slim.

No, and this is different from a hard shell that stays on the housing all the time. Our sleeves are slip-in sleeves. You take the MacBook out to work, so it is never packed away while it is running. With the Pro 16 and the M4 Max this makes a real difference.

All four fit. The real question is what else you carry. The SUFFOLK is the slimmest and disappears into a laptop compartment. HAMPSHIRE and ANGUS have a front pocket for flat accessories. The CORRIEDALE L is the bag for two devices, with the MacBook and the iPad side by side.

Yes. Merino wool felt and vegetable-tanned leather are both strong under tension, and the seams are doubled. The CORRIEDALE L has a further advantage: it is built as a bag and spreads the weight over the whole surface. If you commute every day, it is the more robust choice.

We build separate bags for them: the cable bag CORRIEDALE XS in wool felt and the LONGFORD in leather. Our sleeves are cut flat on purpose and should stay that way, and the power adapter of the Pro 16 in particular is a heavy piece.

In our own workshop in Hamburg, Germany. Everything is cut, sewn and checked here, and has been since 2011. The leather is vegetable-tanned and comes from Tuscany, and the Merino wool felt is mulesing-free.

MacBook Pro 16 inch leather sleeve – handmade in Hamburg since 2011

The MacBook Pro 16 inch is the most powerful Apple notebook, and at around two kilograms also the heaviest. Our MacBook Pro 16 sleeves and bags have been made in Hamburg, Germany, since 2011, from vegetable-tanned leather and mulesing-free Merino wool felt, with double seams and a pattern cut for exactly this size.

Three short clips from our workshop in Hamburg: how the magnetic closure shuts, how the MacBook slides into the felt, and how much fits into the bag.

Which leather sleeve fits the MacBook Pro 16 inch? All dimensions

For comparison: the MacBook Pro 16 inch measures about 35,6 × 24,8 cm when closed, at 1,7 cm in height. Inside tells you whether your device fits. Outside tells you whether the sleeve still fits into your backpack.

The SUFFOLK is a vertical sleeve. The MacBook goes in upright, so the smaller number comes first. In all other models the device lies flat.

The four models in leather and wool felt for your MacBook Pro 16 inch

  • SUFFOLK – pure Merino wool felt, no front pocket. The slimmest option, it fits into any laptop compartment.
  • HAMPSHIRE – wool felt with a leather patch, flat magnets and one front pocket for flat accessories.
  • ANGUS – full leather outside, wool felt inside. Two zips, one of them for the front pocket.
  • CORRIEDALE L – the bag for two devices, when an iPad and some documents travel next to the Pro 16. It spreads the weight over the whole surface.

For the power adapter and cables we build separate bags: the CORRIEDALE XS and the LONGFORD. With the Pro 16 the power adapter is a heavy piece, and this is what keeps the sleeve flat.

The leather: vegetable-tanned cowhide, just under 2 mm thick

For the ANGUS, and for the leather patches on HAMPSHIRE and CORRIEDALE, we use full-grain leather from family-run tanneries in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned. The hide arrives just under 2 mm thick, and we bring it down to the thickness each part needs. The SUFFOLK is different: it is pure Merino wool felt, and only the small logo patch is leather.

Full-grain means the surface is not sanded down to look even. Pores, fine veins and small scars stay visible, and the colour deepens over the years. A MacBook Pro 16 leather sleeve that goes into a backpack every day looks different after two years than on the first day: darker, softer, with a patina. If you want a material that always looks the same, a coated leather is the better choice. We deliberately do the opposite.

Inside there is 3 mm of Merino wool felt. The felt is soft enough not to scratch the lid when you slide the device in, and dense enough to absorb knocks instead of passing them on to the corners of the MacBook. At around two kilograms of device weight, every fibre that absorbs a knock counts. Your device is best protected in the ANGUS: it is the only model with full leather outside and wool felt inside.

Compatibility of the MacBook Pro 16 inch

Our sleeves fit the MacBook Pro 16 inch with M4 Pro and M4 Max (2024), and the earlier models with M3, M2 and M1 Pro or Max. All generations share the same outside dimensions.

From our workshop

Leather and wool felt: from the first cut to the last seam

Splitting, skiving, punching, sewing, embossing, hardware and final inspection all happen in our own workshop in Hamburg, and have done since 2011.

A slip-in sleeve has to sit tightly without gripping. You cannot buy that tolerance from a supplier; it is created when the parts are cut. This is why we cut a separate pattern for each device size instead of one universal shape.
