The iPad mini is the iPad you carry all day without noticing it. That is exactly why the sleeve must not add bulk. Our iPad mini sleeve LLEYN is the only pattern we cut specifically for this device – from mulesing-free Merino wool felt with a patch of vegetable-tanned cowhide leather.

There are around two centimetres between the device and the inside dimension. That is the room for your Smart Folio, not slack.
What sets the LLEYN in wool felt and leather apart
- Holder for the Apple Pencil on the outside of the leather patch. It can also be stowed under the front pocket.

The leather on the patch: vegetable-tanned cowhide from Tuscany
The patch that holds the Apple Pencil is made of full-grain leather from family-run tanneries in Tuscany, vegetable-tanned – the same leather we use for our larger iPad sleeves. The hide reaches us just under 2 mm thick and we skive it down to the thickness this part needs.
Full-grain means the surface is not sanded for an even look. Pores, fine veins and small scars stay visible, and the colour deepens over the years. The leather patch of the LLEYN is therefore the part that ages the most – in the good sense.
The felt does the rest. 3 mm of Merino wool felt, 100 per cent virgin wool, soft enough not to scratch the display as you slide the device in. We deliberately do not build an iPad mini sleeve in full leather: on the smallest iPad, leather all round would add more bulk than the device can carry.

From the raw hide to the last seam
Splitting, skiving, punching, sewing, embossing, fittings and final inspection all happen in our own workshop in Hamburg, since 2011.
A slip-in sleeve has to sit tightly without jamming. That tolerance cannot be bought in, it is created at the cutting stage. This is why we cut a pattern of its own for the iPad mini instead of a universal one.
