Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, plug included. It is flatter than the LONGFORD, but it is not just a small cable pouch: power supply, cables, USB sticks and a mouse all find room.

Because what you carry keeps changing. Sewn-in individual compartments suit exactly one set of contents. Our three compartments are formed from one piece of merino wool felt and give way without letting go of what is inside.

Wipe the leather dry, and use a little leather balm when needed. After it gets wet, dab it with a dry cloth, do not rub, and let it dry slowly in the air. Shake the wool felt out or brush it off.

24 × 14 × 5 cm. That fits the power supply, a mouse and adapters together, and the slim leather pocket on the side takes SD cards.

The LONGFORD is leather on the outside and closes with a zip. The CORRIEDALE XS is merino wool felt on the outside with leather side panels, closes with flat magnetic buttons and stays flatter. Both have three compartments made from a single layer of felt.

With the cable organiser set, four leather pieces with snap fasteners. On most cables you can thread it on and leave it there for good, so it is always to hand.

In our own workshop in Hamburg. Splitting, skiving, cutting, sewing, embossing and final inspection all happen here, since 2011, with long-standing partners for individual steps.

Cable bags and organizers in leather and wool felt

A cable bag is never packed the same way twice. Today a power adapter and a mouse, tomorrow just a charging cable and headphones. That is why our inner compartments are not sewn in one by one but formed from a single layer of Merino wool felt. They give way when a lot has to go in, and they keep everything still when there is little inside.

Which cable bag in leather or wool felt is right for you?

Four models, but not four equivalent alternatives. Two of them are bags, one is an accessory for the cable itself, and one does not belong in a backpack at all but in the hallway. So here is the decision by situation and price.

The four models by use and price
ModelBuilt forClosureRight for you ifPrice
CORRIEDALE XSa cable bag for the backpackflat magnetic studsit should stay flat and match the wool felt sleeves in colour74 €
LONGFORDa cable bag in full leatherzip in YKK qualityyou want leather on the outside and need the extra pocket for SD cards99 €

CORBYa tray for at homepress studs, lies flatkeys and coins need a fixed place in the hallway44 €

The two cable bags differ less in volume than in material and closure. At 3.5 cm the CORRIEDALE XS is the flatter one and closes magnetically; at 5 cm the LONGFORD is the deeper one, has full leather on the outside and closes with a zip. Both take a power adapter.

Three compartments from one layer of wool felt, not five sewn-in ones

Sewn-in single compartments are built for exactly one way of packing. If the power adapter does not fit into the compartment meant for it, it lies loose on top and presses when you close the bag. With us the three compartments come from one piece of Merino wool felt: they give way to a wide power adapter and hug a thin cable. That way the most space stays usable in a small bag.

The felt has a second purpose. It lies between the objects and stops a metal plug from scratching the mouse.

Power adapter, mouse, cables: what fits in the leather bag

This category exists because of one single object: the power adapter. It fits into no front pocket of our sleeves, not even into the ones on the largest models. That is not an oversight. A sleeve with a front pocket big enough for a power adapter builds up so much at the front that it no longer goes into any laptop compartment. So the sleeve stays flat, and the power adapter gets a bag of its own.

What typically goes in:

  • The power adapter with its plug. With the CORRIEDALE XS expressly including the plug attachment.
  • Charging cables and adapters. USB-C to HDMI, a dongle, a card reader.
  • The mouse. The felt keeps it still instead of letting it knock against the power adapter.
  • Small parts. USB sticks, SD cards. On the LONGFORD the narrow leather pocket on the side is there for them.
  • Headphones. In-ears with a charging case, without getting caught in the cable.

What does not belong inside: a second power adapter. Both bags are calculated for one mobile workplace, not for the basic equipment of an office.

The cable organizer set in leather stays on the cable

The difference from a hook-and-loop strap

On most cables the strap can be threaded on and left there for good. It stays on the cable, so it does not wander into a drawer, and it is to hand exactly when you want to roll the cable up. That is where loose straps fail: you never find them when you need them.

There are four pieces in the set, and that is the number that is enough in practice: the power adapter cable, the charging cable for the phone, an adapter cable, a headphone cable. At 44 € it is the least expensive piece in this category and the only one you can give as a present without knowing the other person’s bag.

The CORBY: a key tray in wool felt and leather

The CORBY is a little out of line here, because it does not travel with you. It is the tray for the hallway or the desk into which keys, coins and the rest of your pocket contents go in the evening. 17.5 × 17.5 cm, wool felt with leather, held by four press studs at the corners.

The trick is in the press studs: undo them and the tray becomes a flat surface that fits into any travel bag. In the hotel room you snap it together again and have the same place to put things down as at home. If you want to think the hallway through, the keychains and key cases hold the matching counterpart.

The leather: vegetable-tanned cowhide, just under 2 mm thick

For the LONGFORD, the organizer set and the leather parts of the CORRIEDALE XS and the CORBY we use full-grain real leather from family-run tanneries in Italy, vegetable-tanned. The hide reaches us just under 2 mm thick and we bring it down to the thickness each part needs.

Full-grain means the surface is not sanded down to look even. Pores, fine veins and small scars stay visible, and the colour deepens over the years. If you are looking for a material that always looks the same, a coated leather is the better choice. We deliberately do the opposite.

Inside there is Merino wool felt, 100 % virgin wool, 3 mm thick. It is not a synthetic needle felt but a dense natural material – and it is exactly that density which makes three compartments from one layer work at all. Thinner material would sag instead of holding the contents.

Leather and wool felt instead of nylon

Cheap organizers in nylon last a year or two. The zip catches, the fabric wears through at the edges, the plastic becomes brittle. Our leather gains a patina over the years. The effect you can feel only sets in after about a year, though, not after two weeks.

The second difference is quieter and still noticeable every day: nylon rustles, felt does not. A cable bag that is opened in a meeting makes no sound with magnetic studs and wool felt.

Caring for cable bags in leather

  • Leather in daily use: wipe it with a dry, soft cloth. Usually nothing more is needed.
  • Wool felt inside: shake it out, brush off crumbs or take them up with the upholstery nozzle of a vacuum cleaner. Do not wash it.
  • The zip of the LONGFORD: if it runs stiffly, cleaning the teeth dry helps. No oil, it attracts dust.
  • Press studs: press them open and shut straight, do not lever them open at an angle.
  • Stains on leather: do not rub hard. Much of it evens out over time.
After it gets wet

Dab the leather with a dry cloth, do not rub, and let it dry in the air. Not on a radiator. Shake out and brush the wool felt.
