The iPad is light, flat and pleasantly pared back. That is exactly why we did not want to build another plastic frame around it just to get a better grip.
The TABSTRAP sits directly on the back of the iPad and adds what is often missing when you hold it for a while: an adjustable hand strap, a stand function and a fixed place for the Apple Pencil.
The iPad stays slim – and sits noticeably more securely in your hand.

Using an iPad one-handed sounds easier than it feels after twenty minutes.
With the TABSTRAP you slide your hand under the adjustable strap of 100% Merino wool felt. The weight spreads across your palm instead of hanging from your fingertips alone.
Reading, drawing, presenting or working while standing – the iPad stays more controlled in your hand. A better grip, without an extra handle or a plastic frame.

The TABSTRAP turns freely through 360°. You can switch the iPad between portrait and landscape without repositioning your hand every time.

Real Bavarian leather, vegetable-tanned. It holds with vacuum film – no glue.

Merino wool felt, adjustable. Magnets hold it to the leather pad.

Vacuum film
The leather pad attaches to the smooth back of the iPad through a reusable vacuum film.
No glue.
No permanent bond.
No residue when you take it off.
For the best hold, the back of the iPad and the vacuum film need to be clean, free of grease and free of dust. Then position the pad, smooth the air outwards from the centre and press it down all the way around.
Once carefully attached, the TABSTRAP is made to stay.
The pencil gets its own place too.
Apple Pencil
The Apple Pencil should not disappear somewhere separate in your backpack. That is why there is a built-in pencil holder right on the TABSTRAP.
The iPad and the pencil stay together – and the pencil is where you need it.

We make the leather pad from vegetable-tanned Bavarian leather. The hand strap is 100% Merino wool felt.
Both are worked in our Hamburg workshop and combine the two things that matter for the TABSTRAP: stability where it is needed – and a soft surface where your hand rests.

Frequently asked questions about the TABSTRAP
The TABSTRAP is designed and tested for iPads from 9.7 to 11 inches.
We do not recommend it for 12.9 and 13 inch models, because of their size and weight.
It is designed and tested for iPads up to 11 inches. The vacuum film holds on any smooth, flat back, so other tablets of comparable size and weight usually work as well. We have only officially tested it for iPads.
It is not suitable for rough or textured surfaces, or for devices considerably larger and heavier than an 11 inch iPad.
It holds best directly on the smooth back of the iPad.
Front-only covers such as an Apple Smart Cover work as well, as long as the back stays free. Cases or keyboard covers that fully cover the back are not suitable.
No. The vacuum film works without adhesive and comes off without residue.
To reattach it, the film and the back of the iPad should again be clean, free of grease and free of dust.
Clean the back of the iPad and the vacuum film thoroughly – ideally with glass cleaner and a clean cloth, so that the surface on the iPad and on the pad itself is free of grease.
It can be removed and repositioned.
It is meant to be attached carefully once and then used permanently, rather than as a daily quick-change adapter.

Yes. The hand strap folds in and becomes a stand at the same time.
Yes. With the TABSTRAP attached, the iPad fits into the CORRIEDALE and into the ANGUS. It just fits into the HAMPSHIRE.
The connection between the leather pad and the hand strap protrudes slightly. That makes the front pocket noticeably flatter to use while the pair is inside.
