MacBook Neo case: which one fits, and how it sits
Every now and then a new device does more than fill a gap. It sorts the market. That moment has arrived. The MacBook Neo is sitting on my desk, wrapped in vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany, inside an ANGUS sleeve I first designed more than a decade ago.
And you know what? It fits. Perfectly. Without us changing a single seam.
This article answers the three questions we hear most since the launch: does an existing 13-inch sleeve fit the MacBook Neo? Which of our four models is the right one for you? And does a device at this price really need a proper sleeve?
Does a MacBook Neo sleeve from us really fit?
Yes. The MacBook Neo has the same footprint as the MacBook Air 13 inch, 30.4 × 21.5 cm. All our 13-inch sleeves are cut for it. You do not have to wait for a dedicated model, and you do not have to take our word for it: every internal measurement is listed below so you can check it yourself.
This is not luck. Apple has kept the 13-inch footprint stable for years, because a whole accessory ecosystem depends on it. A sleeve cut for the MacBook Air 13 inch will, as a rule, also fit the next 13-inch device.
What is the MacBook Neo, and what is different about it?
A full Apple laptop at a fraction of the usual price. For many that sounded too good to be true. But here it is, in the colour Indigo, a deep blue that looks almost black in some light and glows in other. With Touch ID and a sensibly sized 512 GB SSD.
Opening the box, one thing is immediately clear: Apple did not cut corners on the build. The aluminium body feels solid, no creaking, no flex. The finish is exactly where it needs to be on a MacBook, only at a price that puts the competition in an awkward position.
The honest part: for demanding work such as professional video editing or 3D rendering, the Neo does not replace the stronger MacBooks. It was not meant to. As an entry into the Apple ecosystem, as a second device, and as a school or university machine, it is hard to beat.

The SUFFOLK is a vertical sleeve, the MacBook slides in upright. That is why the smaller number comes first. In all other models the device lies flat.

SUFFOLK, the minimalist
For everyone who likes it pure. The SUFFOLK is made from 100 % merino wool felt, with nothing but our embossed leather logo. No front pocket, no magnets, no buckles. You slide your MacBook Neo in, and it sits. That is all.
This makes it the slimmest sleeve we build. It disappears into any laptop compartment, even in a backpack that is already full. If you carry the MacBook inside a larger bag anyway and only want to protect the surface from scratches and keys, you do not need more than this.
HAMPSHIRE, where wool meets leather
Merino wool felt with a contrasting leather patch. The wool fibre absorbs impact instead of passing it on. Add flat magnets and a front pocket that takes the charger and its cable. No synthetic lining, no glue.
The HAMPSHIRE is the compromise that is not one: almost as slim as the SUFFOLK, but with the pocket that makes the difference once you actually take the device with you, rather than carrying it from room to room.
ANGUS, the icon in leather
Vegetable-tanned leather from Tuscany outside, merino wool felt inside. No plastic case that yellows after three months, no thin neoprene that gives up on the first drop. Two zips, one of them for the front pocket.
The ANGUS is our oldest construction and the only one that looks better after years than on day one. The patina tells your story, not ours. It also offers the best protection in the range, and not because leather beats felt, but because it combines both: leather on the outside, 3 mm merino wool felt on the inside. The felt cushions the impact, the leather spreads it across the surface.
CORRIEDALE M, when more comes along
The bag with room. Next to the MacBook Neo it takes an iPad, documents and cables, with a magnetic closure, a front pocket and a holder for the Apple Pencil. For everyone who does not want to carry two bags.
One honest note: the CORRIEDALE is no longer a slim sleeve, it is a bag. If your MacBook also has to go into a backpack, the HAMPSHIRE is the smarter choice.

Hard case, sleeve or bag for the MacBook Neo?
These three words get mixed up constantly, but they mean three very different things. The difference decides whether you will be happy with your choice.

Why we do not build hard cases for MacBooks: a clipped-on shell sits permanently on the aluminium, and dust collects in exactly that gap. That dust is what scratches the surface. We prefer to protect in transit and leave the device free while you work.
Wool felt or leather for the MacBook Neo?
The question we get most before a purchase, and the answer is not simply "leather is better". The two materials solve different problems.

Is a sleeve for the MacBook Neo worth it at all?
A fair question, especially for a device that is deliberately cheaper. Our answer is inconvenient, because it argues against the quick sale: it depends on how you carry it.
If the MacBook Neo stays at home on the desk and travels no further than from the living room to the kitchen, you do not need a sleeve. If it goes into a backpack every day, together with keys, pens and a water bottle, you do. Aluminium is soft. A bunch of keys leaves marks that do not come out, and a scratched surface costs more at resale than any of our sleeves costs new.
How to check the size yourself
You do not have to take our word for it. This is how you check in two minutes whether a sleeve fits, no matter who made it.

Too tight means you force the device in every time and the seam has to work. Too loose means the MacBook slides around inside and the sleeve stops doing its job. Our internal measurements are listed above, so you do not have to ask.

While Apple designs the MacBook Neo in Cupertino, our sleeves are made here in Hamburg. At a time when "Made in Germany" is often only marketing, we really do sew here. With our own hands.
Every sleeve is cut, stitched and checked by hand. The leather is vegetable-tanned in Tuscany, free of chrome. The merino wool felt is mulesing-free and comes from New Zealand, South Africa and Argentina. No mass production, no anonymous batches.
And unlike your MacBook Neo, which you will replace in three to five years, a good sleeve stays with you considerably longer. That is not a marketing line, it is the reason we build the way we do.

Does a MacBook Air 13 sleeve fit the MacBook Neo?
Yes. Both devices have a footprint of 30.4 × 21.5 cm. All our 13-inch sleeves fit both.
What is the difference between a MacBook and the MacBook Neo?
The Neo is Apple's more affordable entry. Housing, footprint and build quality are what you expect from a MacBook, while the performance is aimed at everyday work rather than video editing and 3D rendering. For the question of a sleeve only the footprint matters, and that is identical.
Which is the best case for the MacBook Neo?
There is no single best one. If you only want to protect the surface, the SUFFOLK at 59 € is right. If the charger comes along, the HAMPSHIRE. If the sleeve is your only luggage and should look good for years, the ANGUS in leather. If an iPad joins, the CORRIEDALE M.
Is there a hard case for the MacBook Neo?
Not from us, and that is a decision rather than a gap. A clipped-on shell sits permanently on the aluminium, dust collects in between, and that dust scratches exactly the surface it was meant to protect.
Is a fabric or felt case better than leather?
Merino wool felt is thicker at 3 mm and lighter, leather is harder at just under 2 mm and ages better. For a daily backpack, felt is enough. For a sleeve that should still look good in five years, choose leather.
How quickly does the sleeve arrive?
We ship from Hamburg every day. Personalised models take one to two working days longer, because the embossing is done by hand.
What if the sleeve does not fit after all?
30-day return policy, no reason needed. The internal measurements are in the table above so it does not come to that.
