How quickly the weeks and months go by, especially in the last third of the year! Christmas is just around the corner again. We would like to wish all those who are celebrating this feast happy and contemplative hours, to all others, if possible: happy and relaxing holidays! Every year we are grateful to be able to look back on the past, on a Pack & Smooch year that was marked by continuous product development and the maintenance of proven quality standards.
Our Kingston iPhone case is now available in a wider version, so that it can be combined with our impact-resistant, elegant click case. Our leather case Kingston is now also the perfect leather companion for the iPhone 11 / Pro. And when the MacBook Pro 16 was launched this year, we promptly responded with the Hampshire case and the full leather Angus case in the appropriate size. Our flagship Hampshire also demonstrates its customary versatility in the tablet segment. Released in 2019, it offers reliable and stylish protection for all owners of Surface Pro 6 and Pro 7.
Hamburg key holder with customization
Already at the beginning of the year our customizable key ring Ellon was released. Two millimetres thick Italian cowhide leather make the key ring a solid holder for all kinds of locking instruments. With up to ten self-selected characters, including upper and lower case letters and punctuation, our special customisation feature in the webshop leaves the elegant Latin Standard font on it, optionally in gold, silver or blind embossing.
The Festmoker (German: Festmacher) then saw the light of day in the world of accessories: a leather key case that speaks our language: with a blind embossed anchor motif on the front - in homage to Hamburg, the home port of Pack & Smooch. The pencil case, which can be ordered in caramel light brown and chocolate dark brown, is also available from the online shop of the Hamburg daily newspaper "Mopo", where we also exclusively sell our key case Ankerplatz. The key tray with anchor motif, a maritime variant of Corby, has become a handmade top seller here.
Beautiful and robust: Our new Angus series
In 2019, we presented ourselves as extremely robust and elegant at the same time with the release of our full leather cover Angus. In the sleeve made of fine cowhide you can now transport your mobile Apple computers and tablets in style. The handmade sleeve is available for MacBook Pro 16, Pro 15, Pro 13/Air 13 and all current iPad models. The custom-made inner compartment is padded with fine merino wool felt. We ship our Angus in an organic cotton bag.
Small but very fine was our next new release of the year: the cuddly Lleyn case. The individually tailored case in a minimalist design proves to be a clever space miracle: the Apple Pencil is safely stored in the matching loop and thanks to a sewn-on, flat accessory pocket, even smaller accessories don't have to stay outside. A magnetic button ensures that the iPad Mini is stored securely and can be removed easily.
Desk pad for more hand warmth and less keyboard chatter
With Moira, our new desk pad, we have been providing you with a fluffy overview and order on your desk since autumn. Measuring 74 by 30 centimetres, the rectangular merino wool felt pad guarantees cosy warmth for your hands when working on your MacBook/laptop or PC - and it also noticeably dampens the rattling of the keyboard. Moira is one hundred percent plastic-free and, like all our products, doesn't even travel around the world. The vegetable tanned leather we use comes from happy European cows from Italy.
And there we are - last but not least - at another big Pack & Smooch theme of the year: sustainability. We no longer pack any of our products in plastic! Our new figurehead is called: "No plastic. Out of respect. For Nature." A motto that we literally attach to all our articles. Responsible handling of the environment and its resources: We want to be measured even more strictly against this claim - as we are with the quality of our materials.
A year full of news and satisfaction, which we enjoyed a lot. Your enthusiasm for our iPhone cases, custom-made laptop and iPad cases and accessories in 2019 was once again our greatest joy! An important confirmation of our daily work. At this point, a very special thanks to you, who consistently focus on traditional craftsmanship, while the market is flooded with cheap and often inferior products from the Far East. The low prices may be tempting at first glance - but in the end, environmentally friendly manufacturers pay off.
