Teufelswerk und Engelsgabe: Heavenly Delicious Because They Are so Hellishly Good.
Can snacking on sweet goodies be a sin? Absolutely! We were over by our neighbours at Teufelswerk und Engelsgabe and were convinced of this as we tasted it with our own palates. Kathrin Wolff and her employees create the finest pralines here in our Hamburg business park and they taste heavenly because they are so hellishly good. All the ingredients used in the manufacture of the products comes from certified organic producers and are lactose as well as gluten free. This young, organic company has also completely turned its back on sugar and preservatives. Its sweets even carry the label “vegan”. The most important ingredient, dates, is sourced from the company Gebana. This Swiss company works closely together with Tunisian farmers. It organises contracts directly between the farmers and the producers thereby cutting out extra and unnecessary middlemen. Gebana also invests in on-site production and quality management.
Handmade With a Lot of Care: From Selection to Production to Packaging
Kathrin Wolff has been running her sweets manufacture in her hometown of Hamburg since 2011. Everything is done very carefully by hand: selection, sieving, weighing, portioning, shaping, rolling and packaging. This production chain fits in nicely with the company's slogan: “ Created by the devil to seduce us and refined by the hands of angels to give us unrepentant pleasure”. In only a few minutes the machines have chopped all the ingredients up into little pieces. The resulting paste is then shaped by hand into small balls and rolled in roasted almond pieces by Kathrin Wolff and her employees. Thus finishing the flagship product of Teufelshand und Engelsgabe – the date confectionery. This delicious product is now available at 200 retailers throughout Germany – everywhere from organic supermarkets to health food shops, delicatessens, hotel shops, cafés, yoga studios and selected supermarkets. Even People Who Suffer From Allergies Can Sin: Fruit Confectionery Made With Jam
In order to also be able to offer allergy sufferers something from their assortment of products Kathrin Wollf has been manufacturing a fruit confectionery for the last few months. This product has a 100% fruit basis and contains no nuts or almonds. It is thus not unusual for the sweet smell of cooking raspberries and strawberries to waft through the manufacturing area. The resulting jam is then purèed, thinly spread onto a baking tray and baked for approximately ten hours, a process whereby it gains extra sweetness and aroma and allows for excess water to evaporate. From about 250 to 300 grams of fruit she is left with only 100 grams – the essence of an unrepentant sin.
